The 10th annual Colorado Ag Classic will be held Dec. 10-11 at the Embassy Suites in Loveland, CO. The trade show and convention is hosted jointly by the Colorado Association of Wheat Growers (CAWG), the Colorado Corn Growers Association (CCGA), the Colorado Sunflower Administrative Committee (CSAC) and the Colorado Seed Growers Association (CSGA).

The convention will begin the afternoon of Dec. 10, with a Legislative Townhall where attendees can discuss political topics affecting agriculture with legislators who influence our industry at the state capitol.

Three pesticide recertification courses will be held beginning at 3:30 p.m., focusing on: 1. Pollinator Protection–Environmental Protection (1 credit); 2. Pesticides and Their Families (1 credit); and 3. Deciphering Mandatory and Advisory Statements on Labels–Laws and Regulations (2 credits). Attendees may attend as many sessions as they wish. Four credits are available, and the 2014 sessions do not repeat any of the 2013 sessions.

The evening will continue with dinner and a fundraising auction, with proceeds going to benefit CAWG’s and CCGA’s state and national legislative efforts.

Early morning sessions Dec. 11 include a workers’ compensation safety seminar and a session on Grain Marketing with Dan Maltby, followed by Dr. Craig Beyrouty, dean of the Colorado State University (CSU) College of Agriculture kicking off the General Session, which also includes Colorado Commissioner of Agriculture John Salazar.

Dr. Eric Frew, director of the Research and Engineering Center for Unmanned Vehicles at CU-Boulder’s College of Engineering and Applied Science, will be presenting “Unmanned Aircraft Systems: These are the Drones You’re Looking For.”

Additional sessions include: “Details and Choices in the 2014 Farm Bill and Washington Outlook for 2015”; “Commodities and General Economic Outlook”; and “Colorado Water Watch,” with representatives from CSU; Combest, Sell & Associates; and CU-Boulder.
