As many Coloradans struggle with job loss resulting from the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, the Department of Health Care Policy & Financing (HCPF) is here to keep Coloradans covered with health insurance through Health First Colorado (Colorado’s Medicaid Program) and Child Health Plan Plus (CHP+).
It’s critical that Coloradans know they can apply for health coverage at any time and it’s easy to do. Please help us spread the word. The following materials are intended for distribution by our many partners to help us spread the word to Coloradans who need health care coverage, and to help us recruit more health care providers to help serve our more than 1.3 million current members and the more than 500,000 new members we expect to enroll by the end of this year.
For more information on the anticipated enrollment surge, read the press release.
If you need content or a format type that isn’t listed here, we are happy to customize materials for you. Just email HCPF_Comms@state.co.us. Thank you for helping us ensure all Coloradans have access to health care coverage during this public health emergency and beyond!

Do you need health care coverage?

Any Coloradan who needs health care coverage should apply for Health First Colorado (Colorado’s Medicaid Program) and Child Health Plan Plus (CHP+) .
As Coloradans struggle with record unemployment in the fallout of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, the Department of Health Care Policy & Financing is working to help keep Coloradans covered. The Department’s programs, including Health First Colorado (Colorado’s Medicaid Program) and Child Health Plan Plus (CHP+), covered nearly one in four Coloradans before the COVID-19 pandemic began. The Department anticipates as many as 500,000 more Coloradans will become Health First Colorado or CHP+ members before the end of the year.
During this pandemic -- which is creating both health risk and increased stress and anxiety -- it is especially important for all Coloradans to have health care coverage.
“This is not a time for people to be uninsured and Coloradans who’ve lost their health insurance should give Health First Colorado and CHP+ a hard look. Should adults or children become ill or injured, our programs will provide individuals and families peace of mind during this difficult time knowing their health coverage needs can be met,” said Kim Bimestefer, HCPF executive director.
