  • State of Colorado and Taiwan Sign International Agreement to Boost Quantum, Photonics, Precision Agriculture and Semiconductors

    DENVER – Today, at the Colorado State Capitol, Governor Jared Polis and the Director General of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office, Debby Huang, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between Colorado and Taiwan to strengthen the partnership between the two regions and boost opportunities in critical and emerging technologies, including quantum, photonics, precision agriculture and semiconductors. The MOU grew out of an investment mission to Taiwan in 2024, led by Lt. Governor Dianne Primavera.

  • Governor Polis Calls for Federal Action to Support Freedom in Light of the Hemani Case

    DENVER - Today, Colorado Governor Jared Polis called for federal action to support freedom and Coloradans’ rights to be responsible gun owners and responsible marijuana users at the same time. The U.S. v. Hemani case before the United States Supreme Court addresses a federal law prohibiting firearm possession for users of controlled substances, which still includes marijuana. For years, the Governor has called for the rescheduling of marijuana and he continues to urge the administration to stop dragging its feet and interfering with Coloradans’ Constitutional rights.
  • Colorado Challenges Department of Energy’s Unlawful 202(c) Order Requiring Craig Unit 1 Coal Plant to Stay Open

    DENVER - The State of Colorado formally appealed the U.S. Department of Energy’s 202(c) order to keep the Craig Unit 1 coal plant available for operation on Wednesday. The plant, which was slated for retirement on Dec. 31, 2025, was inoperable due to damage and the decision to keep it open requires extensive costs — without improving grid electric reliability.

    DENVER - Governor Polis announced updates to his communications staff today. Gov. Polis announced that effective February 6, Conor Cahill will be stepping down as Communications Director. Cahill has served on the Governor’s communications team since his first term, beginning in 2019.

    DENVER – This week, the Global Business Development division of the Colorado Office of Economic Development and International Trade (OEDIT) welcomed a delegation of business and economic development leaders from Japan. Led by the Japan External Trade Organization and supported by the Japan America Society of Colorado, the three-day visit showcased Colorado’s photonics, semiconductor, and quantum sectors to business leaders interested in expanding in the state.
