Gov. Polis appoints district court judges in 2nd Judicial District

DENVER — Gov. Jared Polis today announced the appointments of Ericka F.H. Englert and Lisa Teesch-Maguire as district court judges in the 2nd Judicial District to fill two positions created pursuant to SB 19-043.

Ericka F.H. Englert is Of Counsel at Davis, Graham & Stubbs, LLP, a position she has held since 2016. Her practice consists of civil business litigation and complex commercial matters, as well as criminal defense, investigations, and professional misconduct matters. Previously, she was a Shareholder and Director at Lewis, Bess, Williams & Weese, P.C. (2012-2016); Assistant Regulation Counsel at the Colorado Supreme Court Office of Attorney Regulation Counsel (2011-2012); Associate at Brownstein Hyatt Farber Schreck, LLP (2006-2011); Deputy District Attorney with the Denver District Attorney (2004-2006); Associate at Wheeler Trigg & Kennedy P.C. (2002-2004); and judicial clerk to Justice Michael Bender of the Colorado Supreme Court (2001-2002). Englert earned her A.B. from Dartmouth College in 1994, and her J.D. from the University of Colorado School of Law in 2001.

Lisa Teesch-Maguire is a Magistrate in the Eighteenth Judicial District, a position she has held since 2016. Her docket consists primarily of domestic relations and dependency and neglect matters. Previously, she served as a Deputy District Attorney in the Eighteenth Judicial District (2012-2016; 2005-2008); Victims’ Rights Legal Director and Staff Attorney at Rocky Mountain Victim Law Center (2011-2012); Associate at Light, Kelly & Dawes, P.C. (2010-2011); Law Clerk to the Honorable John L. Kane of the United States District Court for the District of Colorado (2009-2010); and Chief Assistant Attorney General in the Office of the Attorney General, American Samoa (2008-2009). Teesch-Maguire earned her B.A. from the University of Florida in 1998, and her J.D. from the University of Colorado School of Law in 2004.

Both appointments are effective July 1, 2019.
