Gov. Polis appoints District Court Judge in 21st Judicial District

DENVER — Gov. Jared Polis today announced the appointment of Matthew D. Barrett as a district court judge in the 21st Judicial District to fill a vacancy created by Senate Bill 19-043.

Barrett is currently a District Court Magistrate for the 21st Judicial District, a position he has held since 2018. His docket consists of domestic relations matters.  Previously, Barrett was a Senior Deputy District Attorney in the 9th Judicial District Attorney’s Office (2014-2018; 2009-2012); Associate at Silver & DeBoskey, P.C. (2012-2014); and Deputy District Attorney in the 14th Judicial District Attorney’s Office (2007-2008). Barrett earned his B.A. from Franklin & Marshall College in 2003, and his J.D. from the University of Denver Sturm College of Law in 2007.

Barrett’s appointment is effective immediately.
