DENVER — Wednesday, Mar. 29, 2017 — Gov. John Hickenlooper has appointed John Scipione as judge on the Arapahoe County Court in the 18th Judicial District. He will fill a vacancy created by the retirement of the Honorable Robert C. Tobias.
Scipione serves as a Magistrate in the 18th Judicial District (2012-present), and currently handles a felony intake docket in Arapahoe County. In his current position, Scipione presides over first appearances, felony advisements, bond hearings, and preliminary hearings for all felony cases. Prior to his current position, he worked for Taussig, Scipione & Taussig, LLC (2011-2012), for Riggs, Abney, Neal, Turpen, Orbison & Lewis, P.C. (2008-2011), for Herrold & Herrold, P.C. (2007-2008), for Law Cash/Esquire Capital (2006-2007) and for Caplis, Scipione & Deasy, LLC (2003-2006). Scipione earned his undergraduate degree from the State University of New York at Binghamton in 1990 and his J.D. from the University of Colorado in 1994.
Scipione’s appointment is effective May 31, 2017.
