DENVER — Wednesday, Aug. 20, 2014 — Gov. John Hickenlooper today announced several Boards and Commissions appointments. The appointments were to the Caring for Colorado Foundation Board of Directors, the CollegeInvest Board of Directors, the Disability-Benefit Support Contract Committee, the Government Access to Personal Medical Information Task Force, the Justice Assistance Grant Board, the Pollution Prevention Advisory Board, the Board of Registered Psychotherapists, the State Board of Social Work Examiners, and the Supreme Court Judicial Nominating Commission.

The Caring for Colorado Foundation was endowed in 1999 with the proceeds of the sale of Blue-Cross Blue-Shield of Colorado to Anthem Inc.  Its mission is to promote and serve the healthcare needs of the people of Colorado.  To do so, the Foundation makes grants in communities throughout the state to increase access to direct health services, to implement prevention programs, to share health information and to improve the health care infrastructure.  Caring for Colorado strives to make lasting health improvements for individuals and communities.

  • William Warren Jennings of Colorado Springs, occasioned by the resignation of Randy Lee Evetts of Pueblo. Appointed for a term expiring on the date of the first annual meeting in 2016 of the Board of Directors of the Caring for Colorado Foundation.

CollegeInvest is a not-for-profit division of the Colorado Department of Higher Education.  CollegeInvest administers the state of Colorado’s 529 college savings programs and students studying in- and out-of-state.

  • David Lee Stevens of Denver. Reappointed for a term expiring July 31, 2018;
  • Charles William Kercheval of Parker. Reappointed for a term expiring July 31, 2018;
  • Martha Jeanne Awad of Denver. Appointed for a term expiring July 31, 2018.

The Disability-Benefit Support Contract Committee accepts and reviews proposals to fund projects or programs that study or pilot new and innovative ideas that will lead to an improved quality of life or increased independence for persons with disabilities.

  • Mellisa Umphenour of Arvada, representing individuals who are disabled and are currently receiving disability benefits or have received application assistance. Appointed for a term expiring July 1, 2017.

The Government Access to Personal Medical Information Task Force shall review, analyze, and make recommendations regarding the ability of state and local government departments and agencies to access, use, and distribute personal medical information and medical records.

  • Lauren Elizabeth Victor of Evergreen, to serve as a representative of the Colorado Department of Higher Education. Appointed for a term expiring November 1, 2014;
  • Christopher W. Underwood of Evergreen, to serve as a representative of the Colorado Department of Health Care Policy and Financing. Appointed for a term expiring November 1, 2014;
  • Ralph Anthony Gagiliardi of Arvada, to serve as a representative of the Colorado Department of Public Safety. Appointed for a term expiring November 1, 2014;
  • Kim Burgess of Highlands Ranch, to serve as a representative of the Colorado Department of Personnel and Administration. Appointed for a term expiring November 1, 2014;
  • David Blake of Breckenridge, to serve as a representative of the Colorado Department of Law. Appointed for a term expiring November 1, 2014;
  • Katrina Kiefert of Highlands Ranch, to serve as the Governor’s Health Information Technology Coordinator. Appointed for a term expiring November 1, 2014;
  • Cammie Blais of Nederland, to serve as a representative from Connect for Health Colorado. Appointed for a term expiring November 1, 2014.

The Justice Assistance Grant Board advises the Division of Criminal Justice on issues related to federal block grant monies designated to improve the criminal justice system and reduce drug abuse and violent crimes.

  • Doug Erler of Greeley. Appointed for a term expiring July 31, 2017;
  • Susan Michelle Colling Iverson of Lakewood. Appointed for a term expiring July 31, 2017;
  • Sandra K. McFall of Clifton. Appointed for a term expiring July 31, 2017;
  • Alexis Cisneros Devine of Denver. Appointed for a term expiring July 31, 2017.

The Pollution Prevention Advisory Board works to provide policy guidance and advice for development and implementation of the Colorado Pollution Prevention Program.

  • Jarrett N. Smith of Denver, to serve as a representative of higher education. Reappointed for a term expiring July 1, 2017;
  • Kim Hargraves Tyrrell of Denver, to serve as a representative of environmental groups. Reappointed for a term expiring July 1, 2017;
  • Rebecca Elizabeth White of Denver, to serve as an ex officio member representing the Colorado Department of Transportation. Appointed for a term expiring at the pleasure of the Governor.

The Board of Registered Psychotherapists licenses and hears complaints about psychotherapists.

  • Pamela Collins, BSN, RN of Bennett, to serve as a public member. Reappointed for a term expiring July 1, 2018.

The State Board of Social Work Examiners licenses social workers in Colorado and conducts hearings concerning complaints against licensed social workers.

  • Marlo J. Greer of Denver, to serve as a member of the public. Reappointed for a term expiring June 30, 2018;
  • Catherine Anne Seal of Woodland Park, to serve as a public member. Reappointed for a term expiring June 30, 2018;
  • Jaime Christine Peterson, LCSW of Fort Collins, to serve as a licensed clinical social worker. Appointed for a term expiring June 30, 2018.

The Supreme Court Judicial Nominating Commission recommends candidates to serve as judges for the Supreme Court and the Court of Appeals. The chief justice of the Supreme Court chairs the commission and is a non-voting member. This commission includes one citizen admitted to practice law in Colorado and one citizen not admitted to practice law residing in each of the state’s seven congressional districts, and one additional citizen not admitted to practice law in Colorado.

  • Mosiah James Montoya of Denver, to serve a non-attorney and as a Democrat from the First Congressional District. Appointed for a term expiring December 31, 2019.
