Congress Approves Continuing Resolution
The House passed a continuing resolution on Friday, September 8, which was passed by the Senate on Thursday, to keep the government funded at FY17 levels through December 8. The resolution is packaged with lifting the debt ceiling and providing emergency relief for victims of Hurricane Harvey. This action eliminates the threat of a government shutdown for now, though much work remains to be done before December to pass FY18 appropriations into law.
Colorado WIC continues to provide services as usual, despite reports of a potential government shutdown. Please note: There is funding available to maintain operations and reimburse WIC purchases for several weeks after a potential funding cutoff if it occurs in December. Should any budgetary changes affect WIC, retailers will be notified ahead of time. Please continue to accept eWIC payments until you hear from Colorado WIC.
