Personal Search for Unclaimed Property

  1. To begin your search, you must first enter the last name that the Unclaimed Property may be listed under.  The last name is a required field.  All other fields on this page are optional, however, by providing more information you are able to receive a more accurate listing of properties.  Once you’ve entered the information, select Submit.

    If the information you have provided results in too many returned records, you will be asked to narrow your search.  You can do this by including information for any fields that were left blank for the original search of the potential claimant.  Example: providing the last name of Smith may result in 2000 matching records, providing the name John A. Smith with a zip code of 80202 may result in 30 matching records.  Once you have entered the requested information, select Submit.

    If you are unable to provide more information, you may view up to 250 records by selecting Display Results.

  2. On the Unclaimed Property page, you will find a listing of the Unclaimed Property types that matches your search criteria.  Select the property items that you would like to claim and select submit.  Please note you will not be able to select more than 10 pieces of property per claim.

    If you do not see the property you are looking for and believe that it should be listed, go back to Personal Search and begin your search again.  Try searching with different information.  If you were searching using the name Jonathan Smith, try using John Smith or J Smith.

  3. On the User Agreement Page, please read through the User Agreement and select “I agree to the statement above”.  This step is required in order to continue to the next step and claim your property.  If you do not agree you will be returned to the first page of the application.

  4. You must provide your current information in order for the Great Colorado Payback office to contact you regarding your claim.  All fields with a red “*” are required and must be completed in order to continue with your claim.

  5. To submit a claim on the Unclaimed Property that you believe to be yours, you must print and complete the Claim Form. 

    If you close this window before printing your claim form, you will need to call the Great Colorado Payback offices the following day to verify your submission. 

    The address for submitting claim to the Colorado Unclaimed Property Division is listed on the Claim Form. 

    Payment of a claim cannot be made based on name similarity alone.  Proof of ownership is necessary.  You must include all required supporting documentation in order for your claim to be reviewed.  

Business Search for Unclaimed Property

  1. To begin your search, you must first enter the business name, acronym or an identifying moniker under which the Unclaimed Property may be listed under.  The Business name is a required field.  All other fields on this page are optional, however, by providing more information you are able to receive a more accurate listing of properties.   Once you’ve entered the business name, select Submit.

    If the information you have provided results in too many returned records, you will be asked to narrow your search.  You can do this by including the type of business this is.  Example: providing the name of ABC Company may result in 2000 matching records, providing the name ABC Company, LLC located in Denver may result in 30 matching records.  Once you have entered the requested information, select Submit.

    If you are unable to provide more information, you may view up 250 records by selecting Display Results. Or, you may contact our staff at the numbers provided.

  2. On the Unclaimed Property page, you will find a listing of the Unclaimed Property types that matches your search criteria.  Select the property items that you would like to claim and select submit.  Please note you will not be able to select more than 10 pieces of property per claim.

Checking the Status of a Claim

  1. You will first need to submit your claim identification number in the field provided.  Your claim identification number should be on the form you completed in order to claim an item.   If you do not have your claim identification number you will need to contact our office at 303-866-6070 or 800-825-2110.

  2. After selecting the “Submit” button the application will determine the status of your claim and display it on the page.  The page will display the property identification number for each item associated with Claim entered.  Please Note a claim may take up to 10 weeks for processing.

  3. If the application does not return a match for your claim identification number, please contact our office at 303-866-6070 or 800-825-2110.
