On the evening of October 19th, 1979, 14 year old Melvin Pooley Jr. left his southwest Denver home to go visit a friend. Melvin did not return home that night and a Missing Persons Report was filed with the Police Department. A few months later, a passerby noticed a body floating in the South Platte River near West Yale Avenue and notified authorities.
