Gilbert Garcia was killed in a drive-by shooting occurring in the 1800 block of East 34th Avenue on February 8, 2007 at about 9:00 p.m. The victim was pronounced at the scene. He had recently enrolled in Adams State College and was home for the weekend to visit his mother. He and two other males were driving Gilbert's pick-up truck to a friend's house. A vehicle followed them for a bit and then turned off. Another car pulled up next to the victim's vehicle and someone fired at the victim. The victim was struck by the bullet and died.
