On October 26, 1986, a body was located on the west side of Chatfield State Park near South Wadsworth. Investigation determined the body was 24-year-old Judy Pillman, who had been shot. She was last seen October 16, 1986, when she was dropped off near Colfax and Corona streets in Denver. Pillman was wearing a black leather coat, a blue hooded sweatshirt, and blue jeans. She had been living at the Arnold Apartments located on the 1200 block of Washington Street in Denver.
