Participants will make their statement against hunger on a paper plate and take home anti-hunger resources and a bag of fresh produce. Event is "sold out".

Pagosa Springs Youth Center will host a day of skating in conjunction with AmeriCorps Day of Service and share with United Way the proceeds. The Skate Day includes a pancake breakfast and lunch, door prizes, and opportunity for all to sign a beautifully painted mural of Martin Luther King Jr. All donations from the event will go toward youth programs partnered with United Way. Skates are provided and this year members of the Roller Girls in Pagosa will be there to help our kids skate.

Waneka Parkway and Public Road. An afternoon celebration and service fair will be held at Pioneer Elementary (101 E. Baseline Road) from 12:30-2:30 p.m.

All students reside in the Denver Metro area and attend a Denver Public School. The area in highest need of mentors is in the far northeast part of the City in Montbello/Green Valley Ranch. The greatest need is also for male mentors and mentors who are able to speak Spanish.

Students in our program range in age from K-12th grade and all attend a Denver Public School. As mentors go through the screening process they are a part of determining the area of Denver that they want to work in and the age of the student they prefer to work with. This is an ongoing volunteer need all year long.

By targeting youths we hope to encourage them to make smart water choices in the future and to pass knowledge on to others.

Honoring MLK, Commissioner "Uncle Walt" Beckert, AFSCME and The Mission Continues join the Annual Marade's "Get to Cleaning: Remembering Memphis" Service Project. To beautify our city and prepare for Monday's Marade, volunteers pick up trash along the Route. We also remember the sanitation workers' event for which Dr. King returned to Memphis, in spite of warnings to stay away. Dr. King did not live to march with them, so many march today in his honor. Coffee, Cocoa, and Community Precede!

Honoring MLK, Commissioner "Uncle Walt" Beckert, AFSCME and The Mission Continues join the Annual Marade's "Get to Cleaning: Remembering Memphis" Service Project. To beautify our city after Monday's Marade, volunteers pick up trash along the Route. We also remember the sanitation workers' event for which Dr. King returned to Memphis, in spite of warnings to stay away. Dr. King did not live to march with them, so many march today in his honor. Community drummers will entertain you!

Renovations will include painting, cleaning, tearing up old carpet, etc. This building and project are being created through LAM Ministries and a project idea by United Way of Weld county. LAM (Loved-Ones Against Meth) ministries was created to rescue, educate and restore addicts with their families (loved-ones). This overflow shelter will be open to many and this event should make a BIG difference in our community!
