Health Department rules govern the use, sterilization, and disposal of needles or other instruments used to puncture the skin.

All body artists must possess and demonstrate knowledge of Universal Precautions, disinfection and sterilization techniques, procedures for infection and exposure control, and must have a vaccination against hepatitis B (HBV).
Body Art establishments must have written infection and exposure control procedures.
Client records must be maintained for 3 years.
No body artist shall perform a body art procedure upon a minor unless the body artist has received express consent from the minor's parent or guardian (25-4-2103, C.R.S.)

NOTE:  Local zoning and licensing regulations frequently limit these operations.
