COMMUNITY MENTAL HEALTH CENTER - either a physical plant or a group of services under unified administration and including at least the following: 1) in-patient services, 2) out-patient services, 3) day hospitalization, 4) emergency services, 5) consultant and educational services, which services are provided principally for mentally ill persons residing in a particular community or communities in or near which the facility is situated. The term "unified administration" shall mean either alone or in conjunction with other facilities owned or operated by the licensee or affiliated with the licensee. COMMUNITY MENTAL HEALTH CLINICS provide the following services: 1) outpatient services, 2) consultative services.
Businesses must apply for facility license BEFORE accepting patients.

The Division, under the direction of the Health Care Financing Administration (HCFA), also determines eligibility of the facility for Medicare and Medicaid reimbursement certification. Contact HFD for further information is you wish your facility to be eligible.

This agency conducts certification inspections and issues approval to Health Facilities Division for licensure. They do not license -- only review program and give recommendations. They also approve the designation of Mental Health Centers and hospitals to perform Involuntary treatments.
