An applicant for examination shall furnish proof of training of not less than the number of hours of course completion in the subject area in which the applicant seeks licensure as follows:

a) 60 credit hours for a cosmotologist
b) 50 credit hours for a barber
c) 20 credit hours for a manicurist
d) 40 hours credit for a hair stylist

Effective on December , 2008, the Colorado Office of Barber and Cosmetologist Licensing will no longer review out-of-state training. If license wasn't obtained on Colorado, the Colorado practical and written examination should be taken.

All licensing are on two-year licensing cycle and expire in March of even numbered years. Fees vary for exam, initial licensing renewal, reinstatement, endorsement.
Endorsement available if training and exam "substantially equivalent."
Shops/Salons: Shops and salons are not licensed but must register with the board. If salon moves or is sold is must re-register
