preschool through adult, resulting in measurable gains in
literacy levels of students and their families. In addition,

Operation JumpStart AmeriCorps seeks to increase
school readiness skills and health awareness of high-risk
children, ages infancy to twelve, and to increase parenting and
life skills among families served in Catholic Charities Child

AmeriCorps members will support the development
of local community partnerships to meet the needs of youth
between the ages of 16 and 21 who are transitioning into
self-sufficiency. Members provide comprehensive mentoring
services tailored to meet the needs of individual youth who are
transitioning out of the child welfare system (those aging out
of the foster care system) and emancipated youth, such as
helping youth obtain good jobs, enhancing family and social
network support, enhancing educational success, reducing harm
from drugs, promoting mental health and wellness, equipping
youth with life skills, and youth empowerment.

The Colorado Mentors on the Move AmeriCorps
members reduce the educational and basic needs barriers for
homeless students, preschool to 12th grade. This program will
place members in school-based and community-based programs
serving homeless children and families to provide basic needs
supplies, mentoring, tutoring, and transportation for
children/youth and assist parents with resource information. The
program operates in school districts and homeless service
agencies in multiple counties.

AmeriCorps members provide a home-based, peer
delivered, early intervention program that helps parents provide
educational enrichment in pre-literacy and health issues for
their pre-school aged children, ages three, four, and five.
Areas of operation include Denver (north, northeast, and
northwest), Jefferson County, Alamosa, Conejos and Costilla
counties.

Participants will be recruited
primarily from existing HIPPY parents, already residents in
the local neighborhoods. Members serve in a part-time
capacity. The program year begins in the fall.

The Colorado Youth Corps Association engages
AmeriCorps members throughout Colorado in meaningful
environmental service activities. Members perform conservation
service projects for public agencies across the state with
considerable positive impact. Members recruit and utilize local
volunteers to help carryout these projects, leaving lasting
visible benefits and strengthening the ethic of service among
Colorado's young people.

AmeriCorps members perform valuable service
projects that meet both environmental and educational needs for
urban and rural communities of Colorado, leaving lasting visible
benefits that would otherwise not be provided. Projects include
habitat restorations, tree planting, neighborhood clean-up,
improving access to parks for persons with disabilities, and
community beautification projects. Member will work with
elementary students one day per week during the school year.
Members serve on team under the direction of a Team Leader.

Mesa State College AmeriCorps Project helps local
non-profit agencies meet their goals of assisting at-risk youth
throughout Mesa County. Members are involved in a variety of
activities from tutoring youth in alternative school settings,
to mentoring foster children, to providing after school and
summer programs to middle schoolers. MSC AmeriCorps members work
with restorative justice programs, teen mothers, youth in
detention and abused and neglected children and youth. MSC
AmeriCorps members also have a great deal of fun and team
spirit.

Healthy Lifestyles Mentoring Program AmeriCorps
members serve as mentors in two capacities : school-based
mentoring (tutoring low-achieving middle school students and
providing after-school activities that promote healthy
lifestyles); and youth corps mentoring (working with youth corps
members in three conservation corps programs doing environmental
service projects and service learning activities). The program
will focus its operations in Routt County as well as serve
throughout northwest Colorado.

The Mile High Youth Corps engages full-time and
part-time AmeriCorps members in team based projects. The
project addresses the issues of environmental conservation and
restoration, hunger and homelessness, community improvement, and
affordable housing. Corpsmembers will complete service projects
for community project sponsors. The typical day for Americorps
members will vary based on the service projects, however the
weekly schedule will remain the same. Monday – Friday 7:30 AM –
5:00 PM.
