Building envelope refers to your home’s walls, roof, windows, and foundation, protecting you from the outside environment. If the building envelope of your home is not adequate, you will pay more to heat or cool your home.

Adding insulation, sealing air leaks, controlling moisture, and allowing for adequate ventilation will make your home more energy efficient, reduce your heating/cooling bills, and make your home more comfortable. The best place to start to determine your home’s efficiency is to schedule an energy audit. See our section on Energy Audits for more information.
