Weatherization Assistance Program

The U.S. Department of Energy’s Weatherization Assistance Program received $5 billion from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) to expedite the weatherization of low-income homes.

Colorado will receive about $80 million of this funding to invest in low-income weatherization over the next three years. The Governor’s Energy Office (GEO) will use this funding to expand the delivery of weatherization services to the homes of Colorado's low-income residents through its existing Weatherization Program and to strengthen the network of service delivery providers working to improve the energy efficiency of Colorado’s low-income households.

This work will cut energy costs for homeowners at a critical time while generating efficiency service jobs throughout the state.

The GEO submitted Colorado's State Plan for the Weatherization Assistance Program ARRA funds on May 12, 2009. To request a copy of these plans, please contact Kate Drexler at kate.drexler@state.co.us.

If you are interested in partnering with the GEO's weatherization program, please contact Sean Mandel at Sean.Mandel@state.co.us
