Kaye
With
more
than
19
years
experience
in
state
government,
David
was
appointed
as
the
Director
of
DHR
in
October
2006.
David
began
his
state
career
in
1987
with
the
Colorado
Attorney
General’s
Office
after
three
years
in
the
private
practice
of
law.
As a
First
Assistant
Attorney
General
for
14
years,
David
provided
legal
counsel
to a
wide
variety
of
state
officials
and
programs
in
the
Department
of
Personnel
&
Administration
and
in
the
Department
of
Labor
&
Employment.
Prior
to
his
appointment
as
Division
Director,
David
served
as
Deputy
State
Auditor
and
as
Deputy
Director
of
DHR.
David
holds
a
Bachelor
of
Arts
from
Western
State
College
of
Colorado
in
Gunnison,
with
majors
in
Business
Administration
and
Political
Science,
graduating
in
1981
with
the
distinction
of
magna
cum
laude.
As
part
of
his
undergraduate
education,
David
served
as a
legislative
intern
to
State
Senator
Martin
Hatcher
during
the
1981
session
of
the
Colorado
General
Assembly.
David
earned
his
Juris
Doctor
degree
in
1984
from
the
University
of
Colorado
School
of
Law
in
Boulder,
with
emphases
in
corporate
and
tax
law.
David
is a
29-year
resident
of
Colorado,
putting
down
roots
here
in
1977.
He
lives
in
Lakewood
with
his
wife
Joanna
(also
an
attorney)
and
his
10-year-old
stepson,
Nicholas
(not
an
attorney).
David
enjoys
laughing
as
often
as
possible,
riding
his
motorcycle,
skiing,
reading,
watching
movies,
and
learning
to
play
the
guitar.
