Because of the State's budget shortfall, the Digital Trunked Radio Project was not funded for FY 2002-2003. This effects Phase IV of the project map below. When funding is appropriated again, build out of Phase IV will restart.

Digital Trunked Radio Schedule Modifications

 

Recently the State of Colorado has revised the implementation areas and schedule of the statewide Digital Trunked Radio project. Two Phases in the southwestern portion of the state have been combined and the geographic order has been modified. The result is that the northwestern portion of Colorado is scheduled for implementation in FY 02-03 while the southwest portion is scheduled for implementation in FY 03-04. Both implementation dates assume funding is appropriated at amounts requested through the State's budget process. The original schedule was based upon technology that mandated 5 separate zones statewide, with the emergences of new technology the total number of zones was consolidated into two. The State has ordered both zones at the same time to insure compatibility and seamless statewide operation. The equipment for these zones will be installed in the Grand Junction and Denver areas, consistent with the locations of the State of Colorado's Microwave hubs.
