The following index was compiled from the official records of the Clear Creek County Superintendent of Schools that are in the custody of the State Archives. This record is a hand written document identifying the students who were enrolled in School District #5 in 1874. This district generally encompasses what today is the Idaho Springs area.

The information contained in the record generally shows the name of the student, date of the record, and where in the school district the child resided. The children came from the following areas within the school district: Bear Creek, Floyd Hill, Gilian Gulch, Grays Valley, Idaho, Illlinois Bar, Soda City and Spanish Bar.

The record is dated September 15, 1874 and reflects the names of 73 girls and 98 boys being enrolled.

An earnest effort was made to transcribe each name correctly. However, some of the handwritten entries were hard to read, making it difficult to ensure the spelling of a name is accurate. Please check similar or closely spelled names as this may help you in your search.
