What's New
We would like to acknowledge the incredible indexing
work of Gerald Sherard, Connie and Jesse Ryan. These volunteers have been
tireless for us and have added most significantly to our Historical Records
Database. Our database, at almost 900,000 entries, would not be what it is
without them! Thank you so much!
These web pages have been added to our site or
significantly modified to improve public access to Colorado's archival
records:
October 27, 2009 - Since April, 2009 we have put almost 100,000 more
entries into our Historical
Records Database. Notable indexes include the Denver Birth
and Death Indexes from 1906-1909; non-fatal mine accidents 1883-1900,
probate records from several counties, school census records for several
school districts including Dearfield, which was a black colony established
in 1910; and business incorporations (66,000 entries). We now have 870,363
entries in our database. We are endeavoring to put more school census,
probate, and naturalization indexes up as well as other miscellaneous lists.
April 3, 2009 - We have begun to put naturalization indexes onto the
Historical Records Database.
Just completed is the Larimer County index that spans 1885-1958. We plan
on adding additional indexes in the near future for other counties. As of
this date we have 773,933 entries in the database.
February, 2009 - We have processed almost 200,000
entries from the Arapahoe County/Denver Lot and Block Index into the
Historical Records Database.
The index documents property ownership from 1862-1917 in the Denver area.
The index, itself, can help researchers find information about particular
property and the owners in the time period. It also refers to the deed books
where the actual deed is recorded. It is an invaluable index for
house/neighborhood historians.
February 9, 2009 - 98 Mine Location Certificate entries were added to
the Historical Records
Database. These document mining claims on State land from
1905-1910.
January 5, 2009 - 1442 entries were added to the
Historical Records Database
from Summit County probate records.
January 1, 2009 - More than 12,000 Jefferson County Probate cases have
been indexed and are now included in the
Historical Records Database.
January 1, 2009 -- Boulder County Rights of Way court cases have been indexed
and are now included in the
Historical Records Database.
January 1, 2009 -- An interesting record group originating with the Secretary
of State's Office (licensing) exists. It is the Record of Prohibition
arrests made during the Roaring Twenties when prohibition was causing many
people to go underground with their liquorous pursuits. We have uploaded the
index to this record series onto the
Historical Records Database.
January 1, 2009 -- The
Historical Records Database
now has over 566,000
entries. We will be adding numerous records, especially probate indexes in
the near future.
