Photograph Collection
Procedures & Policies
The Colorado State Archives has been invested by the people of the State of Colorado to maintain, promote, and preserve their government's documentary heritage. As such, the Colorado State Archives desires to make its photographic collections as widely available as possible to its various patrons. Photographs are available for a duplicating and handling fee. Please contact us for more specific fee information. By reproducing the material within the Colorado State Archive's Photograph Collection you must agree (in writing) to comply with the following conditions and stipulations.
The user assumes all responsibilities for complying with copyright laws.
The Colorado State Archives reserves the right to restrict the number of photographic reproductions to ensure that they are being utilized in "good taste." To ensure this standard the Colorado State Archives may require a proof for approval before publication.
When graphic items are reproduced, users must incorporate the caption "Courtesy, Colorado State Archives," the location number, and the artist if known.
Images of items or copies of photographic material in the collections that will be used for any form of publication, reproduction, or display must be obtained with the Colorado State Archive's written permission.
Permission is granted for one-time use and for the number of copies specified on the agreement. Subsequent printings, editions, and broadcasts require further written permission and may require additional payment.
The Colorado State Archives retains the exclusive rights for the use of graphic material.
A complimentary copy of publication or broadcast, while not required, is appreciated and should be sent at least three months after completion.
