recently updated the birth and death indexes up to 1909 and will
shortly be putting up indexes for non-fatal mining accidents
(1889-1900),
Governor pardons (1862-1988) Governor appointments (1885-1981)
Chaffee County Probates (1881-1966) and other miscellaneous record
series.
About this Database:
The Colorado State Archives
is endeavoring to provide on-line indexes to many of our
collections. This searchable database is an effort to provide an index
that is searchable by name, record type or by time span. It will be especially valuable to
researchers and family historians. New indexes will be added periodically
to the database. Many of these indexes can also be found on our
On-line Indexes page.
The indexes have been compiled
from original sources
at
the State Archives. We cannot be responsible for
omissions or errors in the original records nor can we
"fix" the indexes that were compiled from the original records
unless it was a transcription error. An
earnest effort was made to
transcribe each name correctly. However,
some of the handwritten entries were hard to read, making it difficult
to ensure that the spelling of the name is accurate. Please check
similar or closely spelled names, as this may help
you in your search.
If you suspect that a name has been transcribed onto the
database erroneously, please let us know and we will
check the original record.
In most cases the records from which the indexes were
compiled will have more information than what is on the index entry.
The

you decide if the records may have the additional information
that you
need.
