Students from Skyline Vista Elementary
studied Colorado reptiles in their classroom and
decided that the Western Painted Turtle would be a
good representative for Colorado.
The students learned about the legislative
process and obtained sponsors for the bill to make
the turtle the State Reptile. They testified in
front of the legislature who passed the bill before
it went to Governor Ritter for his signature.
Students from Jay Baichi's 4th and 5th grade classes
are pictured with Governor Ritter.
