House Bill 577 - 1913

In 1913 Representatives Howella and Gilbert proposed in House Bill No. 577 (1913) the creation of a new county to be called Sunshine County. This new county was to be formed from parts of the then existing Custer and Fremont counties and provided for the necessary statutory functions to be finalized once the legislation was passed. However, opposition to the formation of the new county was intense and the bill died in the Committee on Counties and County Lines on March 15, 1913.
