STRATEGIC PLANNING PROJECT 1997-98

This was a fifteen-month-long assessment and planning project that targeted the historical records of Colorado archives, libraries, museums, historical societies, and local government agencies. The purpose of the project was to create a strategic plan to guide statewide historical records program. This project is being funded by a grant from the National Historical Publications and Records Commission (NHPRC).

The Board developed an overall strategic plan to guide the development of historical records of both government and non-governmental institutions across the state. The primary focus of the project, however, was on the issues and needs confronting the state’s historical record repositories.

The Colorado Historical Records Advisory Board’s eleven-member body, appointed by the Governor, undertook the planning project. An executive committee of four board members guided  the project director in the development of data gathering methods, data collection and reporting.
