Colorado State Capitol Virtual Tour


Ruth S. Stockton

Previous to her election to the Colorado House of Representatives in 1960 and Senate in 1964, Stockton was a leader in numerous organizations that assisted the handicapped. Stockton was a prominent member of the Colorado General Assembly concurrently from 1960 to 1985. Her main legislative causes concerned the handicapped, alcohol and drug abusers, the mentally ill, and juveniles. She was also the first female member of the Joint Budget Committee.
