Colorado State Capitol Virtual Tour
Arriving in Colorado in 1898 at the age of twenty-five, Hokazona soon became a leading businessman and international promoter of Colorado. Hokazona started his entrepreneurial venture by importing seventy young Japanese men to work the sugar beet fields near Greeley. Soon Hokazona was leading a workforce of over two thousand men in the creation of projects such as the Moffat Tunnel, Barker Dam, Trinidad's hydroelectric lines, and various agricultural works. Hokazona was also the president of the Japanese Association of Colorado and of the Japanese Businessmen's Association.
