Colorado State Capitol Virtual Tour

Charles J. Hughes

Hughes was elected to the United States Senate in 1909, and in that capacity fought for the federal relinquishment of public lands so that Colorado miners and ranchers could have more resources at their disposal. Hughes was also known for his brilliance in the courtroom, and as such was rarely absent from high profile cases dealing with mining or irrigation.
