"Our police officers and firefighters put their lives in danger every day to ensure the safety of Coloradans," said Owens. "It is imperative that they receive competitive pension plan opportunities. I trust that the members of the board will continue to protect the financial interests of the public and the association members."
Stanley Sponsel is a retired Denver assistant fire chief and has extensive expertise in the fields of safety and protective service. During his tenure he served as the commanding officer of fire companies in the Northwest Denver Fire District, as interim fire chief during a transitional period and also as liaison officer to the manager of safety.
Kirk Miller is currently a corporal for the Denver Police Department and has been a member of the force since 1980. He has served as the president of the Denver Police Protective Association and the Colorado Police Protective Association as well as serving as an area vice president for the National Association of Police Organizations. The Fire and Police Pension Association Board of Directors administers a statewide pension plan for full-time paid police officers and firefighters. The board is comprised of nine members who serve four-year terms and require Senate confirmation.
