FIRST LADY INVITES COLORADANS TO BENEFIT EVENT
FOR VICTIMS OF HURRICANE KATRINA

(DENVER) - First Lady Frances Owens encouraged Coloradans to participate in "A Gulf Coast Event," which will benefit the American Red Cross and victims of Hurricane Katrina.

"Each and every one of us has been touched by the images of despair and destruction in Louisiana and other Gulf Coast states," said Mrs. Owens. "This event will provide us with another opportunity to help those affected, through both financial and material donations."

The event, which will be held on Sunday, October 16, at Stallions Restaurant in Lone Tree, will begin at 7:00 pm and continue until 10:00. Admission is $15 per person, and attendees are encouraged to bring "gently used items" such as towels, bedding, and children's clothing for the hurricane victims. The night will include a live auction with auctioneer Gary Corbett, entertainment by Dotsero jazz/blues band, and numerous other events for the whole family.

"The state of Colorado has already done a tremendous job supporting our neighbors from the South," commented the First Lady. "Please help us continue Colorado's generosity through this unique effort."
