OWENS APPOINTS AL LUTZ TO HINSDALE COUNTY COURT

DENVER - Governor Owens announced the appointment of Alvin K. Lutz of Lake City as Hinsdale County Court Judge for the Seventh Judicial District. The appointment is effective January 1, 2006, filling a vacancy created by the retirement of the Honorable Larry E. Vickers.

"Al Lutz's current judicial position and ample business experience make him qualified for the county court bench," Owens said. "I am confident that he will continue to serve the people of Hinsdale County as an impartial, fair and efficient arbiter."

Lutz is currently serving the citizens of Hinsdale County as the Lake City Municipal Judge. Prior to this position, Lutz served as senior vice president of audit services and director of corporate security for Norwest Corporation (Wells Fargo Corp.) in Minneapolis, a position he held for 10 years. Prior to the merger with Norwest Bank, he was vice president of corporate security, deposits services and corporate loan closing for United Banks of Colorado in Denver. He received his B.A. from the University of Colorado and graduated from the University of Colorado Graduate School of Banking.

The initial term of office for a county court judge is a provisional term of two years, after which the incumbent must stand for retention to serve an additional four years. The annual salary for this 20 percent/part-time position is $21,102.60.
