OWENS APPOINTS DeFILIPPO TO SCHOOL OF MINES BOARD

(DENVER) – Gov. Bill Owens today announced the appointment of Frank DeFilippo of Golden to the Board of Trustees of the Colorado School of Mines.

"The Colorado School of Mines is among the premier engineering schools in the country. The Board of Trustees plays a critical role in overseeing the activities of the college. I am confident that Frank DeFilippo will serve the people of Colorado as a trustee of their interests, as well as the interests of the School of Mines," Owens said.

Colorado School of Mines is a public research university devoted to engineering and applied science. It has the highest admissions standards of any university in Colorado and among the highest of any public university in the U.S. The school has distinguished itself by developing a curriculum and research program that is geared towards responsible stewardship of the earth and its resources.

DeFilippo, a graduate of the School of Mines, served six years in the Colorado House of Representatives.

The Board of Trustees establishes policies and oversees the operation of the College. Terms are four years. Appointees must be confirmed by the state Senate. There are seven members.
