(DENVER) - Gov. Bill Owens today announced the appointments of Janet L. Frederick of Eads and Stephanie Foote of Denver to the Colorado Tourism Office Board of Directors.
"Tourism is a significant source of revenue for the state of Colorado," said Owens. "It is imperative that we have dedicated and enthusiastic officials promoting our tourism activities. These new members will bring valuable experience and expertise to the board."
Janet Frederick is the Executive Director of the Kiowa County Economic Development Foundation. She is a past president of the Eads Chamber of Commerce and currently serves on the boards of the Economic Developers Council of Colorado and the Southeast Regional Tourism Group, of which she was co-founder. Other past experience includes operating an antique business in Eads and working as an administrative assistance for Kiowa County.
Stephanie Foote, a consultant for Laval Strategic Resources, is an active member of several organizations. Foote serves as trustee for the Denver Zoological Foundation, Western State College, Rose Community Foundation and the Institute for International Education. She is also a board member of the Denver Rotary Club 31 and chair-elect of the YMCA of Metropolitan Denver.
The Colorado Tourism Office Board of Directors sets policies regarding expenditures from the Colorado Travel and Tourism fund. Directors evaluate and decide on the most productive ways to promote tourism- and travel-related activities throughout the state. The Board consists of fifteen members, eleven are appointed by the Governor, serve four- year terms and require Senate confirmation, along with four legislative members appointed by House and Senate leadership.
