OWENS APPOINTS JAMES KLEIN TO BOULDER COUNTY DISTRICT COURT

DENVER - Governor Bill Owens today announced the appointment of James C. Klein of Erie to the Twentieth Judicial District Court bench, which covers Boulder County. The appointment is effective July 1, 2005, filling a new judgeship created pursuant to House Bill 01-1075 and funded by the Colorado legislature this year.

"I am pleased to appoint James Klein to the Boulder District Court," said Owens. "He brings a wealth of experience to the bench and has already proven to be a fair and efficient arbiter."

Klein is presently an administrative law judge for the Colorado Department of Personnel and Administration where he primarily handles workers' compensation hearings and also actively participates in alternative dispute resolution. His background includes real estate, bankruptcy, domestic relations, DUI laws, landlord-tenant disputes, commercial contracts, and construction.

Klein received his undergraduate degree from the University of Colorado and his law degree from the University of Denver.

The initial term of office for a district court judge is a provisional term of two years, after which the incumbent must stand for retention to serve an additional six years. The annual salary for this position is $107,044.
