(DENVER) - Gov. Bill Owens today announced the appointment of Florence E. Hunt of Pueblo to the Colorado Limited Gaming Control Commission. The commission adopts and enforces rules and regulations for the establishment and operation of gambling in the Colorado towns of Black Hawk, Central City and Cripple Creek.
"I am pleased that Florence Hunt has agreed to serve the state in this capacity," said Gov. Owens. "With her professional experience in the district attorney's office, she will be well suited to help ensure that the gaming industry is adequately regulated and its patrons protected."
Currently a victim specialist in the Pueblo County District Attorney's Office, Hunt also is an administrator for the Pueblo County Crime Victim Compensation Board and works as a consumer complaint specialist. She graduated from the National Crime Victim Assistance Academy in 1999. Hunt serves as a director on the boards of the Victim of Crime Act Board and the Colorado Organization for Victim Assistance. Hunt also has taught at the Colorado Crime Victims Academy and the Police Academy at Pueblo Community College.
There are five members of the commission. Members serve four-year terms. Senate confirmation is required.
