"With the speed and surprise with which storms can hit Colorado, it is important for our state to be fully prepared to minimize the damage," said Owens. "Kathleen Novak and Andrew Moore are proven leaders and will serve the board well."
Kathleen Novak has served as the Mayor of Northglenn since January 2002. A former City Council member, she is an honorarium instructor in self-consulting at the University of Colorado at Denver, where she earned both her Bachelors of Science and Masters of Science degrees.
Andrew Moore began his term as Mayor of Erie earlier this year. He worked for six years for Sun Microsystems as a senior manager, senior program manager, and most recently as a senior leader for the company. Moore graduated from California State University at Hayward with a Bachelors of Science degree in computer science.
The Urban Drainage and Flood Control District Board of Directors assists local governments in the planning, design, construction, and maintenance of multi- jurisdictional drainage and flood-control facilities.
Of the five members of the board, four are appointed by the Governor. Members are mayors from Adams, Arapahoe, Boulder, and Jefferson counties. The Mayor of Denver serves as the fifth and ex-officio member. The length of term is two years, and Senate confirmation is not required.
