OWENS APPOINTS SUSAN R. SANDSTROM TO REGIONAL AIR QUALITY COUNCIL

(DENVER) – Gov. Bill Owens today announced the appointment of Susan R. Sandstrom of Aurora to the Regional Air Quality Council.

"In the past several years, we've made great strides toward clean air standards in the Denver metro area," said Owens. "Susan Sandstrom's knowledge and experience will help the Regional Air Quality Council build on this good work to ensure that Colorado's air quality is up to the highest standards possible."

Susan Sandstrom is a certified public accountant (CPA) and belongs to the Colorado Society of CPAs. A member of the Aurora City Council, Sandstrom is a past president of the Aurora Republican Women's Club and former chairman of the Aurora General Employees Retirement Plan. She graduated from Western State College with a major in accounting and business administration.

The Regional Air Quality Council is the lead agency for developing and implementing plans for the maintenance and enforcement of air quality standards within the Denver metropolitan area. The council also does public education and advocacy.

There are 14 members of the Council and the length of term is three years. Senate confirmation is not required.
