(Denver) - Gov. Bill Owens today announced the appointment of Kathleen B. Rader of Colorado Springs to the State Board of the Great Outdoors Colorado (GOCO) Trust Fund.
"It is of utmost important that we preserve and maintain Colorado's great parks and wildlife for future generations," said Owens. "Kathleen Rader's dedicated service to our state makes her a wonderful addition to the GOCO board."
Rader is currently the associate vice president of the El Pomar Foundation, a private institution that offers grants for education and healthcare and furthers community interests such as the environment and amateur sports. From 2000 to 2002, Rader served as managing director of human resources for the United States Olympic Committee (USOC), and in the six years prior served as the senior director of grants and planning for USOC. Rader has served on the board of directors of the American Red Cross (Pikes Peak Chapter), Pikes Peak United Way, and the Colorado Springs World Arena.
The State Board of the Great Outdoors Colorado Trust Fund uses state lottery and lotto proceeds to purchase and enhance Colorado's recreation areas, parks, wildlife, wildlife habitat, and open space.
There are 17 members of the Board, 14 of whom are appointed by the Governor. Members serve a four-year term and require Senate confirmation.
