OWENS APPOINTS MARGIE LYNN ENQUIST TO DISTRICT COURT

(DENVER) – Gov. Bill Owens today announced the appointment of Margie Lynn Enquist of Littleton to the District Court in the 1st Judicial District (Jefferson and Gilpin Counties). Enquist is filling a vacancy caused by the retirement of the Hon. Ruthanne N. Polidori. This appointment is effective January 1, 2005.

"Margie Enquist's excellent judgment and dedicated service as deputy district attorney in the 1st Judicial District have earned the respect of law enforcement, prosecutors, opposing counsel, and judges," said Owens. "I believe that she will be a fair and efficient judge for the people of the 1st Judicial District."

Margie Enquist has served as deputy district attorney in the 1st Judicial District since 1998. She is currently assigned to the Crimes against Children Unit. In this capacity, she prosecutes felony offenses that include murder, child abuse, and sexual assault on a child. She earned her undergraduate degree from Metropolitan State College and her law degree from the University of Minnesota.

The initial term of office for a district court judge is a provisional term of two years, after which the incumbent must stand for retention to serve an additional six years. The annual salary for this position is $107,044.
