(DENVER) – Gov. Bill Owens today announced the appointment of Daryl W. Edmonds of Highlands Ranch and Christine M. Gilroy of Denver to the CoverColorado Board of Directors.
"It can be difficult for some individuals with pre-existing health problems to find good health insurance," Owens said. "Daryl Edmonds and Christine Gilroy have the expertise necessary to help solve this problem, so that the people who need health care the most have access to valuable health insurance."
Daryl W. Edmonds is being appointed as a healthcare-carrier representative to the Board. He graduated from Kansas State University with a degree in business and is currently president and general manager of Cigna HealthCare of Colorado. Edmonds is also a member of the Colorado Association of Health Plans.
Christine M. Gilroy is being appointed to serve as a medical professional specializing in chronic disease. She graduated from Georgetown University with a doctorate in medicine and received a master's in public health from the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center. Gilroy is currently a Key Clinical Faculty member of the Internal Medicine Residency at the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center.
The CoverColorado Board of Directors works to provide access to health insurance to approximately 2,500 Coloradans through the CoverColorado program. Recipients are considered "high-risk" and are not covered by other insurance companies due to pre- existing health conditions.
The Board consists of eight members, seven of whom are appointed by the Governor and serve four-year terms. All members must receive Senate confirmation.
