OWENS APPOINTS SARAH L. MACQUIDDY TO THE COLORADO TOURISM OFFICE BOARD

DENVER – Governor Bill Owens appointed Sarah L. MacQuiddy of Greeley to the Colorado Tourism Office Board of Directors. MacQuiddy, who was appointed to serve as the representative from the Destination Marketing Industry for a term expiring June 1, 2002, replaces Terry Hunt who resigned from the Board.

"The appointment of Sarah to the Board is a much welcome addition as Colorado begins an intensive campaign to better promote the most marketable state in the country," said Governor Bill Owens.

MacQuiddy has been the executive director of the Greeley Convention & Visitors Bureau since 1996. She serves as the secretary for the Colorado Association of Destination Marketing Organizations and is on the board of directors for the Greeley/Weld Chamber of Commerce. She is also a member of the Western Association of Convention & Visitor Bureaus and Destination Colorado.

MacQuiddy served as the campaign director for the United Way of Weld County from 1988 to 1996, and as their volunteer resource bureau director from 1986 to 1988. She received her bachelor’s degree from the University of Northern Colorado.

The Colorado Tourism Office Board consists of 13 members, 11 of whom are appointed by the Governor and represent various tourism and travel industry segments. The members of the board of directors set and administer policies regarding expenditures from the Colorado Travel and Tourism Fund created to promote travel and tourism and related activities that benefit the state. The Office of Economic Development and International Trade provides administrative oversight.
