OWENS TO RESEED LAND AT THE SITE OF THE HI MEADOW FIRE ON SATURDAY, JULY 29TH 

Colorado Cares Day volunteer activities planned across the state with kick-off rallies in Colorado Springs, Denver, Grand Junction & Greeley

DENVER—Governor Bill Owens is asking Coloradans to give back to their community by volunteering this Saturday, July 29. The Governor kicks-off this statewide volunteerism effort at a rally in Denver on the west steps of the State Capitol at 8:30 AM.

Ed Greene from 9KUSA is master of ceremonies along with Dom and Jane from the morning crew at Mix 100.3. The Children’s Hospital Jungle Mobile and the Porter Medical Mobile will both be on location to provide volunteer activities for children.

Following the rally, Governor Owens will rake and re-seed land consumed by the Hi Meadow Fire in Conifer at 10:00 AM. Those who are interested in volunteering at the Hi Meadow Fire site must register at Conifer High School beginning at 9:00 AM. Buses will transport volunteers up to the volunteer location.

The following is a list of additional kick-off rallies across that state:

GREELEY—The University of Northern Colorado, West Gunther lawn at 9:00 AM. University President Hank Brown and State Representative Bill Webster will participate in the festivities. UNC students will be collecting canned food for the Weld County Food Bank.

COLORADO SPRINGS—The University of Colorado at Colorado Springs, University Center, room 116, at 9:30 AM. The university will be collecting products for its personal-products drive that includes bath and personal hygiene products.

GRAND JUNCTION—Mesa State College, Central Quad at 8:00 AM. Mesa State President Richard Baca and County Commissioner Kathy Hall will be speaking.
