OWENS APPOINTS GAIL AALUND TO THE ENERGY IMPACT ASSISTANCE ADVISORY COMMITTEE
DENVER – Governor Bill Owens recently appointed Gail M. Aalund of Durango to serve on the Energy Impact Assistance Advisory Committee.
Gail Aalund will serve as a member representing the public to the Energy Impact Assistance Advisory Committee. She is a marketing consultant for AAHA Marketing in Durango. Aalund currently serves as an executive director for the La Plata County Energy Council. She was previously a member of the Durango Area Chamber and Resort Association. Aalund received her master’s degree from the University of Illinois.
The Energy Impact Assistance Advisory Committee consists of nine members, five of whom are appointed by the Governor and are from areas impacted by energy conversion and resource development. Members serve four-year terms and do not need Senate confirmation.
The Energy Impact Assistance Advisory Committee reviews the impact of development, processing or energy conversion of mineral and fuel resources across the state. The committee then makes recommendations to the Department of Local Affairs to assist impacted areas with the problems occasioned by the development, processing or energy conversion of mineral and fuel resources, solving energy impacted problems and housing and environmental considerations.
