OWENS APPOINTS GERALD R. WHITMAN TO THE PEACE OFFICERS STANDARDS AND TRAINING BOARD
DENVER – Gov. Bill Owens appointed Gerald R. Whitman to the Peace Officers Standards and Training Board for a term expiring on June 30, 2002.
Gerald R. Whitman is the chief of police for the Denver Police Department. Whitman has worked for the Denver Police Department since 1982. Prior to that, Whitman worked for the Lakewood Police Department from 1978 to1982. He holds a bachelor’s degree from Western Illinois University in Macomb, Illinois.
The Peace Officers Standards and Training Board has an advisory role at the Colorado Law Enforcement Training Academy at Camp George West and certifies police officers, academies and instructors.
The board consists of 17 members who serve three-year terms and do not need Senate confirmation.
