OWENS APPOINTS WILLIAM T. MARTIN TO THE STATE BOARD FOR COMMUNITY COLLEGES AND OCCUPATIONAL EDUCATION
DENVER – Governor Bill Owens appointed William T. Martin of Colorado Springs to the State Board for Community Colleges and Occupational Education. Martin will serve as a representative of the Fifth Congressional District.
William Martin is a retired oral and maxillofacial surgeon. Martin served as a state representative for House District 16 from 1989 to 1997. He served as the chair of the Legislature’s Capital Development Committee from 1992 to 1997. He received his doctorate of dentistry degree from the University of Missouri in Kansas.
The State Board for Community Colleges and Occupational Education is the governing body for the state community college system and the coordinating board for local district colleges. It also regulates private vocational schools and coordinates the activities of area vocational schools.
The board consists of nine members who serve four-year terms and need Senate confirmation.
