DENVER - Governor Bill Owens announced the appointment of Doug Cole to the Board of Parks and Outdoor Recreation for a term expiring June 30, 2002.
"Doug's experience with industry will be a great asset to his role on the board," said Gov. Owens. "He will provide a business-minded approach to future parks and recreation opportunities."
Doug Cole of Superior will serve as an at-large member. He currently is president and chief executive officer for the Longmont Chamber of Commerce and is chair-elect of the Colorado Chamber of Commerce Executives. He also served as the executive director for the Broomfield Chamber of Commerce from 1996-1998.
Gov. Owens will continue the appointment of Edward C. Callaway from Crested Butte to serve as a representative of the western region. Callaway was previously appointed by former Gov. Romer, but never received Senate confirmation.
The Board of Parks and Outdoor Recreation addresses various issues and concerns facing the State Park system. It also determines State Park policy, including maintaining and establishing parks, adopting and enforcing Division rules and regulations, educating the public about the availability of state park facilities and preserving the environment, water, vegetation, and wildlife.
