DENVER - Governor Bill Owens will meet with U. S. Secretary of Energy Bill Richardson along with South Carolina Governor James Hodges, Tennessee Governor Don Sundquist and Washington Governor Gary Locke at the Brown Palace Hotel in Denver tomorrow, Friday, September 10. Major Department of Energy (DOE) cleanup sites are located in Colorado, South Carolina, Tennessee and Washington.
During the meeting, Secretary Richardson and the governors will discuss improving DOE's working relationships with the states, working together on the cleanup of the nation's nuclear weapons complex and other DOE sites, and working together on long-term stewardship and funding issues.
A photo opportunity and press availability will take place after the meeting.
